What is the IZES?
The IZES (Institut für ZukunftsEnergieSysteme), institute for future energy systems, is connected to the Saarland University of Applied Science (HTW: Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes). Its activities focus on tomorrow's power supply and energy usage with a special interest for the implied technical and economic challenges.

How is the IZES structured?
In October 2005 IZES converted into a limited company (GmbH), the IZES gGmbH. Its main stakeholder is the Land Saarland. Ohters are regional energy suppliers and the University of Applied Sciences as well as the University of the Saarland.
Who is working at the IZES?
Four professors from the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) are working in the board of scientific directors. Other professors are cooperating in projects. The interdisciplinary staff consists of more than twenty-five people. They are mechanical, energy, electrical and civil engineers as well as other scientists from different areas like physics, chemistry, computer science and economy.
